Home of the Gentle Giants
EXCITING NEWS: From now on our kittens will be bred in partnership with
Jo Woodrow under the prefix Mainelanders. This is a wonderful new
venture and a new direction for our Maine Coon breeding operation. For
some time I have been hoping to find a partner to share the workload,
kittens are very time consuming and a lot of work. Finding the right
person was crucial and I am so fortunate to be able to share the results
of many years of selective breeding with one of the loveliest and most
ethical people I know. The next litters of kittens will be bred at Jo and Rich's house in North Canterbury and brought up by them.
Our breeding cats will be:
Mainelymagic Top Gun P (Maverick) a big solid brown tabby 4WD polydactyl boy from Bomber and James Blonde.
Mainelymagic The Silver Furn P (Furn) a lovely feminine fabulous clear silver tabby polydactyl girl from the current litter of Star and Cowboy.
Jo will be campaigning Maverick and Furn at the shows this season.
Mainelymagic is a small in-home breeding cattery situated in rural North Canterbury, New Zealand.
We breed top quality Maine Coons - and Polydactyl Maine Coons for people
who love the quirky look of those extra toes. Our cats live in the
house with us and are part of our family. They are not caged.
We breed a huge range of colours and patterns including silvers,
browns,
reds, creams, blues as well as solid and smoke cats. We take great pride in breeding healthy cats with friendly affectionate personalities. The perfect family pet.
Most importantly
our cats have had extensive health testing, and our cattery is free of infectious diseases. This is to make sure our kittens are as healthy as possible throughout their entire lives. Please read the
Health Info page before you buy a kitten from anyone.
We believe in transparency and honesty
and we have published our cats health records on their pedigree page for
all to see. We encourage potential kitten owners to ask breeders for
their health records.

Lymphoma information:
Late last year our very precious Maxwell was diagnosed with Intestinal Lymphoma and given 2 weeks to live. After discussion with our vets and a very knowledgeable group of people in an international lymphoma group we opted to treat Max. Max's chemotherapy protocol was designed by the awesome Dr Tony Moore of
Veterinary Oncology Consultants, Sydney. We recommend this practice to anyone with an animal with cancer. Max responded immediately to the chemo and when he was ultra-sounded 5 weeks into treatment there were no signs of any tumours. Before treatment Max had a 5cm solid mass and another large diffuse area of cancerous tumours. Max is almost finished his 23 week chemotherapy and has been happy and well. We hope that he is either cured, or that his remission will continue for a very long time.
